Inaugural SSA@UMD Darwin Day Talk

February 12, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Free

For our inaugural SSA@UMD Darwin Day talk, we’re fortunate to have Prof. Eric Haag, from the Department of Biology. Dr. Haag will present an overview of evolution by natural selection, along with some case studies related to his expertise in the evolution of reproduction.

Dr. Haag earned a B.A. in biology and music at Oberlin College in 1990, and a Ph.D from Indiana University in molecular, cell, and developmental biology in 1997. He began his current work on the evolution of sexual systems as a postdoc at the University of Wisconsin, and joined UMD’s Department of Biology in 2002. His research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation. He also teaches courses for both undergraduates and grad students. Dr. Haag lives with his family in College Park, where he enjoys the non-commute and making music.
