The Michigan State University Museum presents its 12th annual Darwin Discovery Day on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016, 1-5 p.m., an afternoon of science, exploration and discovery.
Researchers and graduate students from all across MSU are taking part in Darwin Discovery Day to help share their research and education with the public.
The theme for this year’s event is “Natural Attraction.” Activities, tours and collections inspired by the theme will take over all three floors of the MSU Museum:
• Earn a prize with a Kidzone passport
• Ask Charles Darwin (MSU Professor Rich Bellon) a question
• Trek behind the scenes for a vertebrate collections tour
• Tour the Hall of Evolution and Habitat Hall
•Dig in to lots of plant activities from MSU’s 4-H Children’s Garden, MSU Herbarium & Department of Forestry
• Check out the Museum Store
• Enjoy a piece of cake in honor of Darwin’s 207th birthday
Curious? Bring in a backyard find and ask the experts:
A favorite tradition of the day continues: visitors can bring in a rock, bone, fossil, tooth or other natural object for museum curators and faculty members to identify. (The MSU Museum cannot provide estimates on the commercial value of any specimen nor provide expertise on human-made artifacts at this program.)
The program is presented free of charge.
