Please join us on Darwin Day on February 12th for our 2nd anniversary celebration highlighting our years accomplishments, and, vision for the future.
Doors open at 6:30pm, talk begins at 7pm, and there will be Q&A during and after the the talk.
We will also have an expert led discussion by Lou Taylor, Ph.D., Vertebrate Paleontologist and Research Associate at DMNS.
Louis H. Taylor
Lou Taylor is a Research Associate at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. Lou received his Ph.D from the University of Arizona. His interests include Paleocene mammals, showing the wonders of paleontology to others, and supporting vertebrate paleontology through service to professional societies.
He was president of the Western Interior Palenontological Society (WIPS) twice and co-founded the WIPS Founders Symposium series. Currently, Lou is a research associate in the Earth Science Department at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science and teaches in the paleontology certification program there. He also is a director of Friends of Dinosaur Ridge, The Saurus Foundation, and the Marmarth Research Foundation. Lou has published on Paleocene and Pleistocene mammals, paleomagnetism, and the Cretaceous-Paleogene boundary in Guangdong Province, China. He has presented talks on a variety of paleontological topics, and was lead editor on two special issues of Palaeontologica Electronica, an electronic journal supported in part by WIPS.
In a former life, Lou was a senior paleontologist and director of the Denver Texaco lab. He also is a former secondary and community college teacher. He earned a B.S. from Edinboro State College in Pennsylvania, an M.A. from Northern Arizona University, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Arizona.
