The Department of Biological Sciences, the Center for the Advancement of STEM Education (CASE), and the Class of ’42 lecture series are excited to announce the preliminary schedule for our inaugural Darwin Day celebration.
Our event will take place on Friday, February 12th, 2016, in Dana Mohler-Faria Science and Mathematics Buildon’s Atrium, Auditorium, and 2nd floor hallway. Throughout the day, we will have an information booth staffed by our students, student research posters, and a natural history display from our Natural History Collection, as well as three film screenings from the PBS series “Your Inner Fish” (beginning at 8:30 am, 10:30 am, and 3:00 pm in the Auditorium) followed by moderated discussions with Biology faculty, staff, and students. We have invited Dr. Hopi Hoekstra of Harvard University as our keynote speaker, and she will be giving a public talk at 7:00 pm that evening on her exciting research on the evolution and genetics of adaptation in mice.
