The Brazilian Society of Genetics (SBG) has been encouraging since 2009, the bicentenary year of Darwin’s birth, that Brazilian universities and research institutes organize the Darwin Day event for the debate and dissemination of science in Brazil. In 2023, SBG, through its eastern regional office, will promote Darwin Day in the state of Espírito Santo, with the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES) responsible for carrying it out. The event will be held at the UFES campus located in the city of São Mateus/ES on February 9th and 10th. There will be several lectures, science at the bar, and debate about teaching evolution.
