A Senate Darwin Day resolution has been introduced, and we need you to help pass it!
Dear Friend,
This week we sent you an action alert letting you know that the American Humanist Association worked with Rep. Jim Himes to introduce the Darwin Day resolution, H. Res. 67, in the House of Representatives for the fourth time since 2011.
I’m proud to let you know that a similar resolution. S. Res. 66, has now been introduced in the Senate by Senator Richard Blumenthal (CT) thanks to the Secular Coalition for America, of which the American Humanist Association is a proud member organization.
This is a huge opportunity for humanists to show Congress just how important scientific research is to our community and country. All of us at the American Humanist Association and Secular Coalition for America will be working hard to push this resolution through Congress, but we need your help.
Darwin Day, at its core, is about spreading knowledge and thanking the scientists who have done so much to improve our quality of life and our understanding of the world. And there is no doubt that we need more members of Congress who support science—those that understand the importance of evolution in public school science classrooms, the evidence behind the threat of climate change, and our need for advanced scientific and medical technologies that improve the lives of all human beings.
Thank you for standing up for science, evolution, and Darwin!
Sincerely,
Roy Speckhardt
Executive Director
