However\, understanding the evolution of different clades of birds has been problematic. While some authors have suggested that phylogenetic relationships among orders might not be resolved\, recent large-scale and whole genome studies have shown an ability to resolve these relationships. With the backbone of the avian tree of life elucidated\, an effort to build the entire avian tree of life using molecular sequence data is underway. Such studies are showing that previously accepted relationships within genera and families are often incorrect\, but new data is allowing these problems to be resolved. Vem ouvir! \n“Henriqueta\, a tartaruga de Darwin” (Texto Editores) é um livro escrito por José Jorge Letria e ilustrado por Afonso Cruz e editado em 2009 pela Texto Editores\, ano em que se celebrou os 200 anos do nascimento de Charles Darwin e os 150 anos da publicação do seu livro “A origem das espécies”.

DESCRIPTION:This year’s Darwin Day celebration features three main events: a keynote address\, evolutionary themed video screenings\, and a teacher development workshop. The keynote speaker for this year’s Darwin Day is Dr. Massimo Pigliucci\, K.D. Irani Professor of Philosophy at the City College of New York. In addition to his distinguished research career in evolutionary biology\, Dr. Pigliucci is the co-host of the Rationally Speaking Podcast and editor in chief for the online magazine Scientia Salon. His keynote address is called “Pseudoscience: Why Bother?” Other events include video screenings for three episodes of Neil Shubin’s PBS series “Your Inner Fish” and a teacher development workshop to provide teachers with activities about evolutionary biology to share with their classes.

DESCRIPTION:Celebrating the International Darwin Day\, Biology students and the Botanical Garden’ s staff of the Central University of Las Villas will present a video about the evolution process and some of the Darwin’ s books simultaneously. Around the midday\, actions will occur in the Central Library\, in the specialized classroom of the Botanical Garden\, in the School of Agronomy and in a junior school near the campus. Our objective is to create an informal and pleasant debate with children\, university students\, teachers and services workers concerning not only about evolution\, but else about biodiversity and how to change our social perception and our way to life in harmony with nature and with other people.
